Proud Daughter

My "present" to my dad--he loves Ghiradelli dark chocolate.
I'm not the most intriguing writer, but I'm going to try to describe today.
There's something that not many people know about me--from the time I met my stepdad Mark in the beginning of my seventh grade year until the Saints went to the Superbowl (the middle of my ninth grade year), he was a drink all day every day alcoholic. Yesterday, I'm proud to say that he made it to three years of sobriety. I know how hard it was for him to beat a 20+ year addiction, and I'm glad he did because he may not still be around if he had kept on drinking. I'm so, so, so proud of him. To show how great an accomplishment this is, me and the rest of the family threw him a party with most of his favorite things--family, Carrot cake, Coke, and gumbo. However, earlier today, my grandmother (his mother) passed away, and while it wasn't exactly an, Oh, I cannot believe she died moment, it was still very sad. I really want to remember this night because even though we could have holed up and been depressed today, my whole entire family came together to celebrate Mark's accomplishment.

Side Note--all of these pictures were taken on my iPhone, they're by no means the greatest, but a couple of people who don't normally smile at the camera did today, so I love them.

xx
