Lucy + Her Yellow Coat
I tagged this in collecting, because one day I hope to have a substantial coat collection.
Anyways, so I've had my eye on this coat for a while (if you want to purchase it, it's one of things on my wishlist in my last post). It was just so much money. I'm not cheap--I have expensive taste even--but it's hard for me to spend big sums of money on just one thing. BUT I need a coat since I'll be living in Washington State next year.
I did actually have a beautiful coat last year, but I severely overestimated my size and got a UK26 when I'm really a UK20. That's a pretty substantial difference. It was so pretty and a gorgeous pink, but I had to give it up because I would spend double what I spent to get it taken in or it would just sit in my closet since it was really unflattering to me. I listed it on eBay, but I decided just to give it to my Aunt Natalie.
Wow, I got off subject. Anyways, this coat has really been a big thing on my mind. I was like, do I just go ahead and get it or do I slowly put back money to get it so it won't be such a big spend? There was always a voice in my head saying GET IT GET IT IT'S GOING TO SELL OUT. Well, last week-ish, it went on sale. I mean major sale. Forty dollar difference. I texted my mom going crazy--I mean this coat was $130-something and now it is at, like, $92. My mom told me to sit on it and that maybe there would be a Black Friday sale. Sometimes, it really kills me not to spend money for long periods of time. I think I'm a borderline shopping addict. BUT I waited. I wake up Thursday and there's a coupon code in my e-mail account from Asos. That meant there would be an additional twenty dollars off the coat.
Yes. Yes, I know. Hallelujah.
Long story-short, I bought that coat. I bought that coat so hard. (Well. Actually my mom purchased it, so I won't be getting it until Christmas. Story of my life. But I don't even care, as long as I get it.)
Hey, another thing. Has anyone ever noticed that Asos clothing runs kind of big? Or is that just me? Every time I get a dress from there that is my correct size (I'm a size 18 here, so I should be a UK22), it ends up being really big. I don't know, maybe it's just me. I downsized for this purchase though. I was thinking that my chest may fill it out a little too much, but I'm planning on getting a breast reduction pretty soon, so I don't think my chest will be a problem area for very much longer.

Lucy + Gayle
A couple of days ago, I went to assist my grandmother in some early Spring cleaning. haha, get it because really it's still Fall, and you're supposed to clean in the Spring. Anyways. Usually every time I'm over there, I end up coming home with something really cool. This time I came home with quite a few things--including a really awesome red plaid flannel blanket that I'll definitely bring with me to Washington--but two were my favorites.
The first of my favorites was a 20's themed Barbie doll (in original packaging, of course). My grandma has this massive Barbie collection (most of them are I Love Lucy, is that ironic, or?), and I love that she wants me to have some of it. I remember when I was, like, 8 years old and trying to be grown up, and she tried to give me a Grease Barbie doll. I threw a fit about how I didn't want it (even though I really did) because I was too old for Barbies. Looking back, I really wish I would have kept the Barbie doll because now I want to have a collection just like my grandma. I've even talked Ashley into thinking it would be cool to have a Barbie display in our apartment. I love the one she gave me because it reminds me of one of my favorite books, The Great Gatsby. Naturally, I have a 20's outfit almost like this one.
The next thing that I found at my grandma's is the most beautiful portrait. I kind of actually sort of stole this painting. I say that because when I told my grandma I wanted it, I pretty much was not taking no as an answer--that painting was going to be mine. I love paintings. I love to draw, I'm actually kind of good at it, but I've never been talented when it comes to painting. I admire (and envy) those who can paint. Anyways, what I love about this painting is the details of the lace dress and hat and the roses but the smoothness of the woman's face. I could never do that. I also really like the colors. I'm a little into pink.. just a little. When I asked my grandma if I could have it, she told me it was a Home Interior painting, which from my days of running the family's yard sales, I know that Home Interior went out of business, or something...? I absolutely am in love with this painting, though, so I'm glad I found it.
